Happy Gas (RA)

At Willoughby Dental Surgery we are able to offer happy gas to patients who are particularly anxious about dentistry. Available to both adults and children.

Happy gas is a mixture of two gases, oxygen and nitrous oxide. It is a very safe form sedative and recovery is quick as there are no lingering effects. Administration is performed via nasal hood, so it is important to be able to breathe via nose.

The patient will experience a warm and relaxed state, some tingling in fingers and toes, and some people may even experience euphoria and have the urge to laugh, hence it is also called laughing gas.

Important to note

1. No food for two priors to appointment
2. Ensure no blocked nose and able to breathe through nose
3. It is recommended to bring company
4. If you have taken any medication on the day please advise us
